Wirex takes the security of its platform seriously and in order to maintain compliance with regulatory requirements, we may ask you to provide information or documentation about your Source of Funds (SOF) & Source of Wealth (SOW).
This is a crucial step in ensuring the safety and security of your account and the Wirex platform as a whole.
We may request this during or after the verification process to understand how you are using your account and the money you pay in and take out. In this case, we will reach out via the Wirex app or email and ask you to answer a few questions and/or provide documentation. We will only use this documentation for verification purposes and will never share any information with third parties.
The following documents may be accepted:
Examples of SOF/SOW and acceptable documents include:
1. Source of Funds (SoF)
- Recent bank statements (last 3–6 months) showing relevant incoming funds.
- Payment advices or SWIFT confirmations for large transfers.
- Loan agreements and facility letters (if funds are financed).
- Sale agreements for property, shares, or investments.
- Dividend statements or distribution records from related companies.
- Investment redemption statements (e.g., from funds or bond maturities).
- Invoices and contracts linked to business activities or transactions.
- Proof of inter-company transfers with supporting documentation.
2. Source of Wealth (SoW)
- Audited financial statements
- Management accounts or profit and loss statements.
- Tax returns or tax clearance certificates (company and/or UBOs).
- Company valuation reports or auditor attestations of value.
- Evidence of retained earnings or historical profits.
- Details of key clients, contracts, and revenue sources.
- Business plan or narrative description of operations and funding sources.
- Professional references (e.g., accountants, auditors, or legal advisors).
3. If the business is funded personally by the UBO/Shareholders:
- Personal bank statements showing accumulation of wealth.
- Employment contracts, salary slips, or bonus statements.
- Investment portfolio summaries or brokerage statements.
- Inheritance documentation (wills, probate, legal confirmations).
- Property ownership and sale documentation.
- Evidence of prior business ownership or sale (e.g., share sale agreements).
